Summer fun
I’m taking the Summer off, and I’ll try and get through my three-page house-related to-do list before my trip to France in September. Lots of fun ahead, folks! Stay tuned for more renovation pictures. Future projects include installing floor tiles in the vestibule, updating doors, making a walk-in closet, remodeling our bedroom closet, gardening and other curb appeal projects, remodeling a half bath, and cleaning out the basement and the garage.

(And yes, I’m a list kind of girl. It’s my way of keeping my sanity.)
Am I cured yet?
Of procrastination, that is. Well there’s still hope. Look! We finally installed a lighting fixture above the stairs. The Regolit will do until I can afford Richard Hutten’s Dandelion (sigh).
I need to hit a few thrift stores again though. I don’t want my house to look too Ikea-ish (that’s one of my pet peeves).

Just because
Can you tell I love British bands? :)
Things
I was talking with a friend the other day about some art we wanted to buy, and although I’m an art fanatic, I realized I’m not ready to invest my money in art* – or expensive furniture, house renovation projects or whatever. I’m still in a phase where I want to invest in experiences, as cliché as it might sound. Of course I enjoy an occasional splurge on material things, but experiences generally make me happier than possessions.
I tend to splurge on handbags (please don’t judge me hahaha), and things that can improve my surroundings (mostly design pieces), but I decided a long time ago that I’d rather buy things I truly love than stuffing my life with… well… stuff… So I no longer spend that much money on material things.
Here’s a list of my new goals:
That’s pretty much it.
*I would make an exception for Shinichi Maruyama‘s work though:

A little ray of sunshine
I don’t know what’s going on, but the sun seems to have disappeared. Now we’re back to rain and cold and clouds, which really brings me down. I want to start running again. Running and drawing are the only things that really work for me for handling negative feelings.
I can’t wait to see my (4) nephews in France. Here’s a gratuitous picture of another gorgeous nephew of mine. Kids have a way of making everything better and happier.
