I am not antisocial…

A few people asked me if they could add me on Twitter and Facebook, and the answer is simple: I don’t have a Twitter or a Facebook account. I used to but I’m at a point of my life where I want to avoid information overload.

Speaking of information overload, check out this video. Happy Friday! Have a great weekend!

About the artist

(Photo and bio from his website)

Sipho MabonaSipho Mabona was five years old when he folded his first paper airplane. In 2000 after having folded planes for fifteen years Mabona ran out of paper airplane designs to fold and turned to origami hoping it would enable him to come up with original designs.
Since then Sipho has been a participant at the Red Bull Paper Wings World Finals in Salzburg 2006, designed origami for the award winning Asics corporate movie “Origami in the Pursuit of Perfection”, has exhibited his work in galleries in Tokyo and Vancouver, was the invited guest at Japan Origami Academic Society (JOAS) Convention 2008 and was the first foreigner whose model graced the cover of the JOAS Convention book.
Sipho Mabona’s origami covers a great range of different styles from very intricate representational designs to abstract geometrical shapes. The impeccable folding and his great sense for lines and shapes distinguishes Mabona’s work of art. Mabona currently resides in Luzern, Switzerland.

ART/DESIGN

Hi, my name is Hasina and I’m a procrastinator

I’m normally self-disciplined and focused, but there are times when my procrastinating tendencies kick in (plus deep inside, I have the attention span of a three-year-old). To get back on track, I usually take a nap, purge clutter, and listen to acid jazz (ok, it sounds counterproductive, but it works). But today, a quote by Ralph Marston will do. I can’t remember where I found it, but I can totally relate.

Don’t waste your effort worrying about what you have not done.
Spend your time working on what you now can do.
It’s amazing how much you can accomplish when your heart is in it.
Drop the doubts, self-criticisms, and anxieties, and positively put your heart into what you’re doing.
Enjoy the delicious feeling of making real progress based on your own focused efforts.
Have fun watching yourself accomplish as you complete each task.
Taking effective, meaningful action will put you in a positive frame of mind.
And that will open the door to many great new possibilities.
Go beyond wondering about it, or thinking it through, or planning for it.
Just go ahead and get it done.
Choose your destiny and delight in the fulfilling effort that makes it happen.
You can do it, and now is when.”

My to-do list is shrinking by the day. There’s hope!

Back to work

Hi everyone! Today is officially my first day of work after a long sabbatical. In addition to that, we’re finalizing a few reno projects we’d been postponing forever. Consequently, posting will be scarce for a few days. But the good news is, I’ll post Before/After pictures soon (I know… they are long overdue).

In the meantime:

How to make a pillow with rosette clusters

I wish I could sew… or should I say… I wish I had listened to my mom when I was younger and learnt how to sew instead of sneaking out to ride my bmx bike with my brothers. Ah, Youth.

This is totally awesome: How-Tuesday: Pillow With Rosette Clusters From Felt Furnishings
